lyrics

I WANT YOU BACK AGAIN

I woke up to the ringing of the telephone
long distance from Atlanta to my bed
We must have had some kind of bad connection
I don't believe I heard the words you said
was it loneliness
or only just the change of season
there isn't any reason to pretend
I had to tell you
that my life is not the same without you
thinking more about you
and I want you back again

I took out the pieces of your letter
and put it all together one more time
and though I tried to find the hidden meaning
you made it hard to read between the lines
was it loneliness
or only just the change of season
there isn't any reason to pretend
I had to tell you
that my life is not the same without you
thinking more about you
and I want you back again

So meet me at the station
we'll walk along the shore
and spend the night together
and maybe nothing more
but please don't close the door

For now I’ll sing this lonesome song to no one
I wish I could forget about it all
but I find myself staring at your picture
How long have I been talking to the wall
was it loneliness
or only just the change of season
there isn't any reason to pretend
I had to tell you
that my life is not the same without you
thinking more about you
and I want you back again
